For almost 50 years, North Carolinians have had the freedom to make one of life’s most important decisions – the decision of if, when, and how to have children. With the overturn of Roe v. Wade, and conservative politicians in North Carolina eager to take us backwards, this fundamental freedom is at stake.
Extremists in the General Assembly are moving quickly to pass a dangerous abortion ban behind closed doors because they know it’s unpopular and wrong. Senate Bill 20, the extreme ban, would outlaw abortion after only 12 weeks of pregnancy, and put barriers in place before that point that would make it extremely difficult for people to get care before it’s banned.
Send your legislator a message that this is a dangerous attack on our fundamental right to get the health care we need.
We’ve already seen the devastating consequences from other states where abortion is banned and reproductive freedom has been erased. We see people forced to travel long distances to get an abortion, patients needlessly suffering after miscarriages, children forced to give birth after rape, and little support for families struggling after childbirth.
We can’t let these horror stories come to North Carolina. North Carolinians deserve the right to a safe and healthy life, and that includes the freedom to access abortion.
