Yes on 805 Voter Pledge

Pledge to Vote Yes on 805

We need to grow ACLU’s volunteer base in Oklahoma and throughout the country with our work with Yes on 805. We have numerous volunteer teams-called pods-that engage key constituencies throughout the state. Answers to the questions below are 100% optional and will not be shared with Yes on 805, but this will help us strategically onboard you into our People Power volunteer program. We are looking forward to having you!

By completing this form, you are joining the ACLU’s People Power volunteer program and agreeing to receive emails, calls or texts from the ACLU and its affiliates (like the ACLU of Oklahoma) about ways to take action and support the ACLU. To learn more about how People Power uses your data, please see our Privacy Policy. You are also agreeing that your name, email, phone, zip code, and volunteer interest can be shared with Yes on 805, Inc., for use per its privacy policy, which you can view here.

State Question 805 (“SQ 805”) is a sentencing reform that would end the use of repeat sentence penalties for nonviolent offenses. Under current Oklahoma law, individuals with one or more prior convictions can face sentence penalties that stack years, decades and even life in prison on top of already extreme prison sentences. As a result, people in Oklahoma spend far longer in prison for nonviolent crimes than people in other states, with no benefit to public safety.

The American Civil Liberties Union and ACLU of Oklahoma are working closely with the Yes on 805 campaign to reach out to hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans across the state to have conversations about SQ 805 and creating a fairer criminal justice system. Yes on 805, Inc. is supported by and works closely with a diverse group of national and Oklahoma-based organizations, and you can learn more about the campaign here.

Sign up to pledge to vote Yes on 805 on November 3rd! We also need your help to get Yes on 805 passed by volunteering with the campaign (virtual canvassing, phonebanking, organizing creative educational events, and more). We encourage you to sign up to learn about our Yes on 805 volunteer opportunities. Please check out our People Power map for upcoming events.
